Supply of quality hydro power plant components is a commitment for ČKD Blansko, which fulfilled by qualified employees. Apart from cooperation with professional universities and secondary schools, we also contribute to the education and training of new specialists through the ČKD Blansko partner Welding School.
Research and development in the company is provided by an own Water Machinery Research Institute with a hydraulic laboratory, which ensures the continuous development of all types of water turbines and equipment for hydro power plants.
ČKD Blansko has four autonomous testing tracks for performing model tests.

Choice of hydraulic profile, CFD calculations, calibration, measurement of cavitation properties, design and optimisation of the rune-of-the-river part of the hydro machines during their reconstruction and modernisation, analysis of the flow, testing of physical models and many other services are a guarantee of top quality during new installations, major overhaul and modernisation of all types of hydro power plants.

We are unique in the world. We are a company that is continuously in operation for more than 320 years. This is proof of the innovativeness, competitiveness and especially the quality of the human resources that we value utmost in Blansko. The first water turbine was made here more than 150 years ago.
The owner of the Blansko manor, count of Gellhorns, established the first iron-mill in the Punkva river valley - origins of engineering manufacturing.
The Blansko Iron Works (Blanenské železárny) were purchased by the Salm-Reifferscheidt noble family. The family expanded metallurgical production, introduced new machines, working procedures, scientific knowledge. From the 20s of the 19th century, machinery production also developed rapidly.
The Salm family sold the iron works and machine works to the Prague company Akciová společnost strojírny, earlier Breitfeld-Daněk a spol. The new owners started building machine works with own foundries.
The Blansko plant became a member of the concern Českomoravská-Kolben-Daněk, a.s., and focused on the manufacture of hydro, milling, food and woodworking machines.
Establishment of the autonomous ČKD Blansko enterprise. Further expansion of metallurgical and mechanical engineering plants followed; improvement of the technical standard of the products. The enterprise specialises in the manufacturing of hydro machines, heavy-duty machining tools and mechanical engineering metallurgy.
Concern ČKD Blansko Holding a.s. and ČKD Blansko Strojírny a.s. became the Czech branch of the international group JSC Tyazhmash, engaged in production in the energy sector.
